What size Trumpet mouthpiece should i Buy?
Okay, so to give a little background her, ive been playing trumpet for 2 and a half to 3 years. Im self taught but im actually pretty good for my age (14). Im really good been the best in my classes except for this year, its not that im slacking off but the music im playing for marching band has alot of the upper register and im pretty good in that area. However i think it is my mouthpiece holding me back(5c). a brass mouthpiece is a very important thing, and a very personal one. simply put, the right mouth piece is the one that is comfortable to you. no mouthpiece is going to magically make you play in the upper register, only slurs, long-tones, and other technique building exercises can help you do that.
the worst thing you can do with mouthpieces is to change from one to another over and over again. try some out at your school or music store and pick one that “feels” best. stick with it, and be patient. with technique building and practice you’ll be hitting those trumpet “over-drive” notes before you know it!
