Has anyone learned or is anyone learning guitar by playing songs?
I just got a guitar 4 days ago. I’m a Gemini, and I’m impatient and I like to do things my own way and creatively. I’ve been going online getting tabs and just playing songs at my own pace. I’m getting fed up with these instructional dvds. I also cannot read music and I am a successful trombone player. I know many people would just tell me to be patient and learn thoroughly, but I’m pretty sure there are some famous guitar players have take the easy way out as I am trying to do. I just want to know has anyone done it this way. Of course, I plan on eventually doing it the right way, but no is not the time, lol. Any advice helps, and is welcome! Thanks :]
Thanks everyone. Maybe I am delusional, but crazy people tend to make the best musicians, right?
Have patience. You can learn to play either way. It only depends on your interest and passion. Playing songs directly will not help you in the later stages. At the beginning stages it will be easy for you to learn the basics, the finer points of playing. Then you can play the songs of any kind easily. In the other as you are doing, you are learning specific songs and you will only be able to those and not the rest. think over it.
150 trombones!!
