Funk Rock Band from Tucson Funky Bonz!
Funk, rock n roll, hip hop and reggae merge on this new disc from Tucson Funk Rock Band Funky Bonz who have been recognized for their infectious and energised variety of music. Funky Bonz have been touring the south west and opening for superb national bands and artists since ’92. They’ve previously played with Fishbone, Weapon Of Choice, Cherry Poppin’ Daddies, Dread Zeppelin, Ozomatli and many others. They fuse rock, funk, reggae, ska, and quite a few other styles throughout their songwriting formulating a diverse but effortlessly accesible groove. For the bands fresh new EP release for Expat Records, the blend has actually been much better by way of the inclusion of previous Funky Bonz trumpet and trombone players Dante and Tony Rosano. The brothers are joined by two saxophonists T.K. as well as James “Zinny” Ball, making for the largest horn section in the bands recorded heritage. Sustaining the rhythm and beat on the new E.P. are bassist Fernie “Snoop” Lopez and drummer Mike “Heff” Hoefnner. Doug “Hurricane” Floyd makes this release ROCK with his gorgeous grooves and blistering solos. Frontman Brent Kort does a great job of sounding at home in almost any category his expertly handpicked players throw to him while the vocals are cunning and thought provoking. The E.P. commences with the title track” Prince Charming which begins as a funky disco beat with falsetto singing instantly morphs into a rap rock tune before ultimately ending with a straight up heavy metal rock and roll guitar solo. ” Make it Funky” is next and with their veteran horn and rhythm section is no wonder why this band has been attaining nominations and honours in Tucson as one of the major bands inside their type in Tucson. The ska song “You Don’t Know Jack” is a gratifying romp and the groovy “Come A Long Way” is a terrific way to end the E.P. with yet another astounding solo from the “Hurricane”.
For a great Tucson Funk Rock Band, check out Funky Bonz!
